The Brumbies are set to take a match to Manuka Oval this year, for the first time since 1996.
The ACT franchise will face the Stormers at the oval stadium on May 9, marking a significant milestone in the club and the code’s history.
It was the Sharks that Brumbies faced in their only other Super Rugby match at the venue, in 1996, on a night where Joe Roff nabbed four tries.
This year’s match will also serve as a celebration of the Brumbies’ 25th Super Rugby season, with past players invited to the match to mark the occasion.
Brumbies CEO Phil Thomson said it would be a special occasion for the side.
‘We couldn’t be happier to be taking a Super Rugby match to Manuka Oval in what is such a significant year for the organisation being our 25th anniversary,” he said.
“There is such great history of rugby at the venue and from speaking to players and supporters, past and present, there is a real excitement for this event.
“We would like to thank the ACT Government for their support in bringing professional Rugby back to this iconic Canberra venue.”
