Concerns over the readiness of the SCG for Sheffield Shield match

NSW have been forced to move Friday’s Sheffield Shield match away from the SCG after concerns over the readiness of the centre square.

The Daily Telegraph understands the pitch the Blues were due to go to battle on against Tasmania is fine, but the surrounding wickets on the square are underprepared.

It’s understood the surface would likely have been fine if not for a Sydney Roosters training session before the NRL grand final on October 6, but the constant traffic on the area has left seven of the eight pitches immature.

Running over those wickets for the duration of a four-day match could compromise the surface during the summer.
