The green grass of Kardinia Park has been transformed to withstand a pounding from scores of motorbikes this weekend.

More than 200 truckloads of dirt has been spread across the oval over the past two days, to create a temporary track for the Australian Supercross Championships.

Troy Bayliss Events has also confirmed a host of off-road buggies and bikes to perform at GMHBA Stadium.

The biggest airbag in Australia will be set up in front of a huge ramp, sending a wide variety of riders into the sky.

“It will be an absolute thrill for multiple generations of race fans to see so many legends and champions of Australian Supercross on the grid together,” Bayliss said. After the event, Kardinia Park Stadium management will begin the first resurface of the ground in nine years.

About 2000m3 of turf and soil will be removed and the irrigation and sprinkler system will be completely replaced.
