Renovations for Warrnambool racecourse

Warrnambool racecourse is set to undergo a $1.25million renovation, thanks to some Federal Government funding that will go towards a revamped Matilda Room among a new-look precinct.

WRC chairman Nick Rule added: “The club is thrilled to have successfully secured funding for this important project, and I would like to extend our thanks to the Federal Government.

“This is an extremely important and timely project for the club, helping us align to the growing needs and future development of the racecourse and providing the local community with a multi-purpose facility that will be the only one of its kind in the region.

“Thoroughbred racing in the south-west region brings enormous benefit to the local economy, generating more than $97million and employing more than 950 people as well as 4,500 volunteers and participants.

“The May Racing Carnival alone injects $7.3million directly into Warrnambool, and this project is a significant investment in the future sustainability of our club and industry.”
