St Kilda Football Club will stand together with Victoria’s Chinese community after the planned Round 11 match in Shanghai was relocated to Marvel Stadium on Sunday 7 June at 5.40pm (Round 12).

The Queen’s Birthday Eve clash will celebrate Chinese culture, with the Saints encouraging the club’s supporters to demonstrate solidarity with the Victorian Chinese community.

“We know it hasn’t been easy for the Chinese community in Australia in recent months,” CEO Matt Finnis said.

“While we can’t be in China for the game for reasons out of everyone’s control, we can demonstrate our commitment to supporting an incredibly important community in Victoria.

We want to use the match at Marvel Stadium to encourage all Victorians to show compassion and consideration for each other. – Matt Finnis

“As Premier Daniel Andrews said last week, we are stronger together.

“We will work with the Victorian Government to promote the positive impact the Chinese community has on Melbourne through education, tourism and its unique contribution to our city’s diverse culture.”

The change in fixture will result in the Saints’ mid-season bye occurring one week earlier in Round 11.

As the match is a St Kilda home game, St Kilda members will have access to the venue as per their normal entitlements.

Fans who purchased tickets for the game in China will receive a refund, while tickets for the Round 12 match will go on sale via Ticketmaster shortly.
