The recently opened first 5-star hotel and golf resort in Sri Lanka , the Shangri-La Hambantota Resort & Spa has partnered with Toro and distributor Turf Equipment Ltd in Colombo, for the supply of the entire range of machinery required to maintain the golf course to international standards.
Shangri-La Hambantota Resort & Spa was officially opened by His Excellency, the President, Maithripala Sirisena on Wednesday, 1st June. The luxury resort spans 53 hectares, making it the largest resort in Sri Lanka and is home to an 18-hole golf course.
Overlooking the pristine southern coast of Sri Lanka, the Hambantota Resort is located along the ancient Spice Route. The 18-hole, par-70, golf course development is set amidst a vast coconut palm plantation.
The course development was approached from an eco-perspective by revitalizing an abandoned sapphire mine, restoring vegetation, re-introducing birdlife and using salt-tolerant turf.
Managing Director of Toro distributor Turf Equipment, Mr. Shiran de Soysa said: “The customer required the most up-to-date and highest quality equipment on the market, with efficiency and productivity backed up by prompt service.”
