Last week at Club Mandalay in Melbourne, Toro Australia released their brand-new Toro Outcross® 9060.

The Outcross® 9060 is described by Toro as an invaluable tool in the long-standing battle Turf Managers face to “do more with less” and is the first machine of its kind to be purpose builtfor the management of fine turf. Its balanced design, four-wheel steer, and four-wheel drive make it extremely gentle, yet powerful. It can be used to mow grass, spread fertilizer, load sand, haul a pallet of sod, aerate, topdress, remove snow and ice, blow leaves, prune roots, spread seed, tow a trailer, sweep a path, chip wood – just to name a few!

turfmate spoke to Brian Goodridge, the Product Manager – Equipment from Toro Australia about the launch event. He said the event was held over three days and customers and commercial dealers came from all over the country to see this industry-leading machine in action for the first time in Australia. Staggered over six sessions, there were approximately six to eight attendees at each session, meaning everyone could have a turn operating the Outcross® 9060.

Staggered over six sessions, there were approximately six to eight attendees at each session, meaning everyone could have a turn operating the Outcross® 9060.

Brian said a highlight of the event was having the Outcross® 9060 Chief Development Engineer Rex Bergsten, attend the launch from his home base in the USA.

“Rex spent the three days being very much hands on with the machine and discussed why the machine was developed with our customers and dealers,” explains Brian.

“We then got the customers using the machine and Rex would show the first customer how to use it, so they would use a ProCore® 1298 for example, and then he got that customer to teach the next customer how to use it – so it was very interactive in that way and showed everyone how easy it is.”

Brian elaborates that aside from being so simple to use, another point of difference is the Outcross® 9060’s multi-purpose functionality.

“The machines that normally do these types of work are a tractor or a vehicle and they’ll do the job correctly, but they’re not designed for the role they’re performing. But, the Outcross® 9060 is specifically designed for turf application and takes the complexity out of operating multiple machines.”

The Outcross® 9060 is now available for purchase in Australia and New Zealand. Visit Toro’s website for more information.
