The Warringah Bowling Club has released plans for a four-stage upgrade of the historic facility.
Mosman Council has approved stages 1 and 2 of the project, which will open up the clubhouse with a new retractable roof, doors and tiling structure to pave the way for further works on an outdoor decking area.
The club’s general manager, Alex Sangkuhl, said it was seeking to “subdivide a portion of land off the main property” to help pay for the 115-year-old club’s extensio
“But we haven’t applied to change the zoning of the land. It’ll still be for private recreation,” he said.
“We have (development application) approval for the terrace and bowls pavilion projects. We are still at pre-DA meeting stage with council on the others.”
If approved, Stages 3 and 4 will see a new outdoor dining area, including a pool and playground equipment, for the club, which has about 2000 bowls and social members. The first two stages are expected to cost up to $350,000.
