Neglected “green” spaces and weed-ridden parks have a chance to turn over a new leaf as the hunt begins for Sydney’s worst eyesore.
Garden and lawn care company Victa are looking to transform an area in Sydney into the cream of the crop with a $20,000 makeover up for grabs.
The public can nominate any area in Sydney they believe is in need of some TLC.
This can include sporting fields, local playgrounds, vegetable or community gardens, rest areas or parks.
Horticulturist and Victa ambassador Adam Woodhams will choose the top 10 “eyesores”, with first prize voted for by the public.
He says the winning entries will be areas “looking run-down, tired, well-worn and in need of a refresh”.
The complete backyard blitz aims to rejuvenate a community space to give some lucky locals their own Garden of Eden.
“Often they’ll be underused because of this neglect so bringing it back to life is like giving it back to the community”, said Woodhams.
“It could involve new turf, plants, playground equipment, seating and amenities”.
Entries for the competition close November 12 at 5pm.
